Golf Course

This nine (9) hole public golf course is situated on 71+ acres of City-owned land.  It is leased to, operated and governed by the Babbitt Golf Association, a Minnesota non-profit corporation.  The course is located about 1 1/4 miles west of the City proper on County Highway 21.  Green fees are $14.00 for 9 holes and $24.00 for 18 holes.  Gas car rentals are $15.00 for 9 holes and $23.00 for 18 holes.  Tee times do not have to be reserved.  The course fairways are outlined with various species of pine trees and situated on a level terrain suitable and enjoyable for walkers.  The course has a complete irrigation system on the fairways, tee boxes and challenging greens.  The large clubhouse is fully equipped with kitchen facilities, a pro shop with golf supplies, golf cart rental, pull cart rental, and storage for personal golf clubs/pull carts.  There are 18 tee boxes of different lengths for all skill levels with red, white, blue, and gold tee markers.  The course is well groomed with the rough mowed to one and one-half inch height.  The course is 3,208 yards long for nine holes and 5420 for 18 holes.  Course rating is:  Blue 69.4 and slope 117; White 68.0 and slope 114; Red 71.4 and slope 116.  Par on the Babbitt course is 35 strokes for men and 36 strokes for women.  There are 200+ members each year and currently 90 gas golf cars are stored in the storage buildings.

The Babbitt Golf Association has 3 adult clubs.  Men's club meets weekly on Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; the Women's club, the Gay 9-Tees, meet weekly on Tuesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and the Mixed Couples club meets every other Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  There is Youth Golf on Monday and Thursday mornings.  Seniors Women's, Gay 9-Tees, Senior Men's, Babbitt Shortstop, Rocker Cup, and Men's Club Scholarship are a few of the various tournaments held during the year.  High School Golf Meets between Iron Range schools are also held at the Babbitt Golf Course.
