Outdoor activities include excellent fishing on Birch Lake with a range of resort or camping facilities available.  The area also offers excellent opportunities for viewing or photographing wildlife such as wolves, moose, deer, bear. and smaller game.

The City of Babbitt is in the process of designing and building a campground at Birch Lake.  We will have RV and primitive sites available for daily, weekly or seasonal rental.  We hope to have the campground open late in 2021 or summer of 2022.  To get an idea of who may be interested in rentals, please send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. PUBLIC NOTICE:  Effective January 1, 2019, the City of Babbitt garbage bills will increase to $50/quarter.  It will no longer be required to use purple garbage bags (any bags may be used).  Bags must be placed in a covered garbage can not to exceed 32 gallons in size.  Garbage will not be picked up if it is not in a can.

Garbage Collection:  Residents are reminded that only CORRUGATED cardboard is allowed in the recycle shed.  Picking up of grass clippings, etc., is an additional service that is provided by the garbage hauler.  Do not overfill bags - they should be easily 'liftable'.  Please DO NOT dispose of animal feces in these bags!  It should be disposed of in regular garbage bags.  Garbage is collected on Mondays and Thursdays.  Pickup begins at 7:00 a.m.  Please have your garbage bags in a container and out by the road by that time.
