Police Department

The Babbitt Police Department provides 24-hour coverage, covering an area that includes 108 square miles surrounding the City of Babbitt. The department is made up of 5 full-time officers, 5 part-time officers, and 1 K9. Many of our part-time officers are also employed as deputies or police officers in neighboring communities. In addition to patrol duties, officers are actively involved in our community with many having served or are currently serving on our fire and ambulance services as well as civic organizations.

Michael McGregor

Police Chief

Chief McGregor began his career with the Babbitt Police Department in 1997.  He served for 9 years before being hired with the Lake County Sheriff's Office.  After 14 1/2 years of service with Lake County, he returned to the Babbitt Police Department after being appointed as the Chief of Police.  Over the course of a 25 year public safety career Chief McGregor has served on 3 ambulance services, 1 fire department, and 1 rescue squad.  Chief McGregor is also an army veteran of the Iraq war.

Troy Bissonette

Police Officer

Officer Troy Bissonette was licensed as a police officer and began serving for the Babbitt Police Department in 2019.  Officer Bissonette is also an active member of the Babbitt Ambulance Service.

Jon Shenett

Police Officer

Officer Jon Shenett has been a full-time officer with the Babbitt Police Department since 2007.  In 2012, he received a life-saving commendation award for his public safety services and is also is an EMT and Minnesota DNR snowmobile & ATV safety instructor. 

Todd Heikkila

Police Officer

Officer Todd Heikkila has been a full-time officer with the Babbitt Police Department since 2004.  He is trained as an EMT, fireman, and Minnesota DNR snowmobile and ATV safety instructor.

Cody Siebert

K9 Police Officer

K9 Officer Siebert was licensed as a police officer in 2016 and has served with the Babbitt Police Department since 2017. He serves with his K9 partner Taconite or "Tac," who is certified in patrol and narcotics detection.  K9 Officer Siebert is also an active member of the Babbitt Ambulance Service and has been recognized for his outstanding performance and life saving actions, reflecting the highest degree of dedication and professionalism.
